KILLY

Patrick Ganthier better known as Killy, was born on October 24, 1966 in Pétion Ville. As a child, he was passionate about Christmas lanterns (paper houses lit from the inside by a candle) and with friends, they made them in all colors as the end of the year approached... At the age of 20, he began the experience of recovery sculpture on his own and attended the drawing workshops at the Art Center as well as the workshop of Tiga (mythical Founder of the Saint-Soleil group). Around 1995, Killy, Pasko, Sergine André, Pascale M, Eddy Pierre, Mario B… work, talk, remake the world together at the Djinn studio near Place Boyer. It was at this time that a new, more contemporary scene crystallized in Port-au-Prince. Killy is above all a sculptor. In 2001, he participated in snow sculpture festivals in Canada and his piece was very noticed there.

It was then at the Atelier Circulaire in Montreal, where Killy settled in 2005, that he learned engraving and monotype. Killy will take a drastic turn in his artistic career or from the right hand, he switches to the left hand. His world changes, while remaining the same. He continues to sculpt, paint, he makes prints, collages, impressive concrete sculptures, Killy breathes through creation. He returned to Haiti in 2013 where he lives, vibrates and works until today.
